Why we made these

Lower scores come from better decisions, not just better swings.

Practise with purpose

Structured planners turn an aimless bucket of balls into a session that actually transfers to the course.

Decide in seconds

Know your real numbers and your smart play before you stand over the ball — fewer blow-up holes, lower cards.

Track and improve

Log your patterns and review every round, so your practice targets the shots that are actually costing you.

Why it works

The numbers don't lie — and they're on your scorecard.

Decades of shot data show most amateurs lose strokes in the same few places. Every card is built to attack exactly those gaps.

~2/3

of the difference between a 90 and an 80 golfer comes from shots outside 100 yards — approach play and driving, not putting. Know your numbers, pick smarter targets.

4+

shots a 25-handicapper can save every round just by eliminating three-putts. Lag control is a skill you can train.

84%

of amateurs' missed putts from beyond five feet finish short. It's pace, not line, that costs you the most.

~30 yds

shorter than your best-ever drive is your typical drive. Play your real stock numbers, not your Sunday best.

These cards put the right number and the smart play in your pocket — free, on a single sheet, built around the things that actually lower scores. Grab your cards →

Questions, answered

Golf tools FAQ

What is a golf distance card?+

A golf distance card is a quick reference of how far you hit each club. You record your average carry and total distance per club, so you can pick the right club with confidence on the course. East Lane's printable distance card is free and scorecard-sized — you fill in your own clubs.

Are these printable golf tools free?+

Yes. Every tool on the site — 26 printable cards covering distances, scoring, practice, strategy and the rules — is free to download as a PDF, with no account or sign-up required.

What size are the cards and how do I print them?+

Each download puts two identical copies on one A4 sheet, each about 100 × 150 mm — normal golf scorecard size. Print at 100% (“Actual size”, no scaling), cut down the centre, then trim the borders. Two cards to keep or share.

What is a wedge gapping chart or wedge matrix?+

A wedge matrix records your carry distance for each wedge at three swing lengths — half, three-quarter and full. It gives you a reliable distance for almost any number inside 120 yards. You fill in your own wedges on East Lane's printable card.

How can I improve my golf course management?+

Aim at the widest safe target, lay up to a full wedge number on long holes, play to the centre of the green rather than tucked pins, and take your medicine from trouble. East Lane's course management card summarises the smart play for common situations.
